New Flyer D40LF/DE40LF

Welcome to the New Flyer D40LF gallery, Victoria operates about 115 New Flyer D40LF's built from 1991 to 1998. Most of these buses have operated in Victoria during their entire lifetime; however, there are some buses which have been transfered from other systems in the BC Transit network. These buses can be indentified by looking to see if they have air conditioning unit mounted on the rooftop. Victoria Regional was also the first transit system to take delivery of and operate New Flyer D40LF's, back in 1991 with a total of 9. All 25 units built in 1991 and 1992 are powered by Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engines and Voith D863 transmissions. While the remainder, built 1994-1996/1998 are powered by Detroit Diesel Series 50 engines and Voith D863 transmissions.

In 2005, BC Transit bought 6 diesel-electric hybrid buses from GM-Allison/New Flyer, they are DE40LF models, powered by Cummins ISL engines with the Allison Ev 40 Drive (parallel hybrid). 3 of these went to Kelowna (#9101-9103) and 3 went to Victoria (#9104-9106).
