Honolulu (The Bus) Gillig Phantom

Welcome to the Gillig Phantom photo gallery. Honolulu (The Bus) operates roughly 300 Gillig Phantoms (as of May 2006), mostly 40 footers. 10 30 footers are part of this 300 total as well. The current fleet of Gillig Phantoms is powered by Detroit Diesel Series 50 engines and Cummins M11/ISM engines. Most of the buses are in the white and orange scheme, while some later ones in the mid 800's have the newer blue, white and rainbow scheme. Most buses except for the mid 800's have Luminator flipdot signs while the mid 800's have Luminator Horizon LED signs. All current buses are equipped with a wheelchair lift and proper securements. All of The Bus' 104 Gillig Phantoms built in 1983 and 1984 have been retired.
