Hong Kong Volvo B9TL

The Volvo B9TL was introduced to Hong Kong in 2004, when Kowloon Motor Bus purhased a Volvo B9TL with a Volgren body to try as a demo unit (AVD1). At the begininng of 2005 when Kowloon Motor Bus put two more of these vehicles in service, but with Wright and Transbus bodywork. The B9TL is the predecessor of the B10TL, some mechanical changes have been made. KMB's B9TL's (after AVD1) are either Wright Explorer or Transbus E500 bodied, the initial two units were one of each body. In 2005 and 2006, 63 more Wright bodied B9TL (AVBW) entered service; meanwhile in 2006 and 2007, 57 more Transbus bodied B9TL (AVBE) entered service. Kowloon Motor Bus operates a total of 123 Volvo B9TL's and it is currently the only Hong Kong transit operator to run these buses. took delivery of Volvo B9TL's are 12 metres in length, air conditioned and powered by Volvo D9 engines with ZF transmissions.
