2004 New Flyer D40LF 7859-7890

In 2004, Calgary Transit took delivery of 32 New Flyer D40LF's, this order has several differences as compared to previous orders. As New Flyer no longer offered the Cummins ISC engine on the D40LF, the Cummins ISL is what powers buses in this order. The transmission is still an Allison B400R5. These buses have the Luminator Horizon LED destination sign just like the 2003's as they have performed well since delivered. The 2004's are also flatbacked like the 2003's and still have a ThermoKing heater/cooler unit. The body is the same as the 2003 model except for the grill and vent at the back of the bus on the driver's side. The grill has been redesigned for the 2004 model and the vent looks a bit different as well. On the inside the only difference is the vertical supports for the horizontal grab rails near the roof are now curved in the middle as opposed to straight seen on CT's previous orders.
