2002/2003 SD-160 (C-Train)
2216-2232

In 2003, Calgary Transit took delivery of 17 SD160 cars. These cars went into service very quickly and ran free of any major problems like those experienced from the previous order. This was due to the experience CT had with the SD160 that they didn't have when the first order came in. The only exception was #2232 which was delivered in 2004 and put into service nearly half a year after it’s delivery. These cars are identical to the cars from the previous orders. Although there is one minor difference, the placement of the door open buttons has been moved to the door instead of the handhold near the centre of the car's width like the previous order. However the first order of cars has had the door buttons moved to the door.

2218 interior 2218's interior. As you can see. A yellow handhold post has been added in the two middle doorsets of the car. Also unlike the first batch of SD160's this batch has it's interior door button moved to a more practical position then the previous. Lastly the interior lighting is now at an angle where on the previous batch the lights were not. 6/13/2003

2219-4 2219 goes through the block of 1st St. West to Centre Street on 7th Avenue S.. At the time tracks were being replaced, this explains why concrete slabs have been removed in some areas. The tracks were still in operation on both sides. 5/07/2004

2220 2220 seen here in it's first few weeks of service seen here in downtown Calgary. As you can see she still looks very fresh and clean! However, on August 22nd, 2003, this unit was leading a 3 car consist on the Whitehorn line when a pickup truck crossed it's path on Memorial Drive at Deerfoot Trail S.E. (where there is a fully marked grade crossing). The train pinned the truck against another object as it was stoping after collision. The lead car 2220 sustained considerable damage to one end and a single side of it's body. Cars 2212 and 2214 were behind 2220 and sustained minor side body damage. The accident resulted in one major injury (truck driver). Car 2214 went back into service about a week after the accident. 2212 and 2220 went back into service at a later time. 6/24/2003
