2220 seen here in it's first few weeks of service seen here in downtown Calgary. As you can see she still looks very fresh and clean! However, on August 22nd, 2003, this unit was leading a 3 car consist on the Whitehorn line when a pickup truck crossed it's path on Memorial Drive at Deerfoot Trail S.E. (where there is a fully marked grade crossing). The train pinned the truck against another object as it was stoping after collision. The lead car 2220 sustained considerable damage to one end and a single side of it's body. Cars 2212 and 2214 were behind 2220 and sustained minor side body damage. The accident resulted in one major injury (truck driver). Car 2214 went back into service about a week after the accident. 2212 and 2220 went back into service at a later time. | 6/24/2003 |
