Banff Transit

Banff Transit currently operates 3 summer routes and 2 winter routes with a fleet of 4 buses. The transit system serves the popular Rocky Mountain townsite of Banff, Alberta. All 4 buses are 2008 Nova Bus LFS HEV diesel electric hybrids. They feature unique liveries featuring wildlife photography from Banff National park. The system is given the brand name "Roam" and has gone relatively high tech in comparision with many other small systems in Canada with the use of hybrid buses, electronic fare boxes and GPS supported real time stop information at about a dozen of the bus stops. Operation of Banff Transit (Roam) is currently contracted to Brewster Transportation. Roam, began service on June 2, 2008.

Prior to Brewster opearting the service, Banff Transportation and Tours was the operator. They operated 1 Ex-AC Transit (#2535) 1989 New Flyer D40 (Bus #3) and 2 Ex-Bakersfield 1990 Orion 01.507 (Bus #1 and #2) from 2005 to 2007. Pinnalce was given the contract for a period of time as well, they solely operated the service for the Winter 2007-2008 season with a fleet of 1992 ElDorado National Escort RE buses. Previous to 2005, the service has been operated by other equipment including custom built lighter duty buses and at least one Orion 01.503 bus, #35.
